TUITION, FEES & ATTENDANCE
- $45 per month for 45-minute classes
- $55 per month for 60-minute classes
- $65 per month for 75-minute classes
- $75 per month for 90-minute classes
- $85 per month for 120-minute classes
- Any enrolled student may take additional classes for just $35 each
- Private lessons are available for $50 per hour and can be taken in any 15-minute increment.
October through May tuition is due by the 1st of each month. Monthly tuition is calculated based on the entire school year and does not change depending on how many lessons are in each month.
We encourage you to keep a credit card on file with us for automatic monthly tuition payments. If you sign up for automatic payments, your monthly payment will be drafted on the 25th of each month. If you decide to pay by check, please make it out to Sacred Ground Dance and deposit it in the drop box by the first of each month. If you pay by cash, please have your money in a labeled envelope (Family name, amount, and what it is for). Both checks and cash can be deposited in the drop box located inside by the studio by the front desk and are due no later than the first of each month.
Any account unpaid after the 10th of the month will have late charges assessed for 10% of the total monthly tuition. We understand that anyone may make a late payment from time to time, but please be respectful of our late fee policy and when applicable, graciously include your late fee in your next payment. If you make your payments by mail, be certain to allow adequate time for mail delivery. Returned check fee is $25.00. No credit is given for student absences or inclement weather cancellation classes.
ATTENDANCE & MAKEUPS
Students learn new technique every week, so please make every effort to be at each class and arrive on time! However, we understand that absences do occur and every student is entitled to 2 make up classes per school year. Please make up any missed class within ONE MONTH of your absence if possible. No monetary credit will be given for missed classes. Please call or email ahead to let us know you will be attending a make up class.
For our informal Holiday Performance students will utilize SGD’s Christmas Costume Closet (red tutu’s, elf hats, etc.). You may be asked to purchase something simple and reusable, like a red turtleneck or a black leotard to accompany the accessories we will provide.
For the Spring Performance, each dancer will receive a beautiful costume for each class they are enrolled in. Although costumes can get pricey, SGD tries its hardest to choose costumes that are more budget friendly and will not exceed $55 per class. Your child’s teacher will let you know what the costume and the cost are in January. Payment is due by November 1st – if you have a credit card on file, we will add the costume cost to your February tuition.
We do our best to keep our fees as low as possible and let you know up front. There is a $20 registration fee per family that will be collected with your first month’s tuition. We will also have a small recital fee of $15/student or $20/family that will be due April 1st before the Spring Recital. This fee help covers the cost of the recital venue, decorations, and workers for both the dress rehearsal and the shows.
When you register at the beginning of the year we assume you are with us all the way through the end of May. Although we hope none of our students ever leave, we understand that certain situations arise and force immediate withdrawal. Because we have been holding a spot for your child in class, we require a withdrawal fee to give us enough time to refill that spot.
The fee to withdraw your child immediately from a class is equal to your monthly tuition. For example: If your monthly tuition is $55 and you want to withdraw your student from a class on October 15th, you will owe $55 as a fee to withdraw, on top of the October tuition you have already paid for.
However, if you let us know you want to withdraw 30 days in advance, you will actually be getting classes out of your “withdrawal fee.” For example: If you give us notice on September 30th, that you would like to withdraw your student from classes at the end of October, we will technically un-enroll your student from our rosters the day of notice and charge the withdrawal fee. Since you will still be attending classes for an extra month though, you will be getting the most out of your withdrawal fee.
INCLEMENT WEATHER / TEACHER CANCELLATIONS
The studio will use it’s best judgement to cancel class if there is inclement weather (tornado sirens, bad snow/ice conditions, etc). Although we often use LISD as a guide, there are times that LISD closes due to weather issues in the morning that have resolved by afternoon. If a class is cancelled, we will post on Facebook as well as attempt to contact everyone to let them know of the closing. There will be no makeup for inclement weather cancellations.
If an instructor is ill, we will try to find a substitute. If no substitute is available, we will attempt to contact everyone to let them know of the class cancellation and offer a make-up class or if no make-up can be scheduled, we will give a credit for the missed class towards the next month’s tuition.
INJURIES/ILLNESS IN CLASS
Upon registration, all students are required to sign a liability waiver before their first class. During class if a student complains of being ill or sustains an injury and cannot participate, we will attempt to notify the parents as soon as possible if they are not on the premises.
Dance class is educational and fun, however, an important part of class work is developing an attitude of discipline and respect for teachers and fellow students. We trust that following our classroom etiquette will provide an environment whereby classes at Sacred Ground Dance will be a pleasure for all involved.
YOUNG CHILDREN: All students are encouraged not to leave the room once class has begun. Please allow for appropriate restroom use prior to class. Very young children will be treated sensitively as the need arises. Parents should not come into the room unless directed to do so. Preschool children may need a parent’s attention from time to time for various reasons including bathroom or behavior issues, but this should be initiated by the Teacher. Please do not leave the waiting area when very young children are in class without informing the teacher or having another parent responsible during your absence. We make every effort to have all children feel safe and cared for in a loving and inspiring learning environment.
OLDER STUDENTS: School age children and teens: please practice respect. Students are not to be socializing in a disruptive manner during the class with other students. Please come early or stay late to enjoy friends in the waiting area. Please honor your teacher and fellow students by giving full attention and cooperation. You will be advised if we feel any student is not well adjusted to the classroom environment for any reason over time.
Feel free to watch class through the viewing windows, wait in the lobby or take advantage of our great location by running some errands. Classes run back to back, so please be prompt to pick up your child as teachers are unable to tend children after class has let out. Sacred Ground Dance is not responsible for providing before or after class care for students. Students are not to be left at the school for excessive time periods before or after their classes. Please be aware that we always allow parents to stay at the studio during class, but younger siblings and loud conversations in the waiting area are not only a disruption to the dancers and teachers but also the parents who are trying to watch their children. If you have a question or concern feel free to email or call us and we’ll be happy to talk outside of class time. If you have other children with you as you wait in the lobby, please be respectful of the studio and tidy any messes you or your children may make.
MOMMY & ME: We are not strict about attire, just make sure you and your child are in form fitting clothing that is not distracting- if wearing tutus/skirts, please make sure they do not hang below the knees. We request that all children have pink ballet shoes.
INCHWORMS, BUMBLEBEES, DRAGONFLIES, & HUMMINGBIRDS: Form fitting dance clothing that is not distracting – if wearing tutus/skirts, please make sure they do not hang below the knees. For shoes, we ask that all students wear pink leather ballet shoes (ex. Capezio’s “Split-Sole Daisy”) and black strap tap shoes (ex. Capezio’s “Mary Jane” tap shoe or Bloch’s “Annie Tyette” snap-closure tap shoe). All students should have their hair pulled back and off the neck. Please provide a dance bag for your child to bring into class with his/her tap shoes, etc.
TOPAZ, CRYSTALS, SAPPHIRES: Form fitting dance clothing that is not distracting (ex. leotards, fitted sports shirts, fitted tank tops/short sleeve shirts, spandex shorts, tights, leggings, etc). For shoes, we ask that all students wear pink leather split-sole ballet shoes, black lace-up tap shoes and tan slip-on jazz shoes (no laces). All students should have their hair pulled back and off the neck. Please provide a dance bag for your child to bring into class with his/her tap shoes, etc.
BALLET & POINTE: Leotard, dance tights or leggings, pink split-sole leather ballet shoes and may wear arm-up clothes as necessary. All students should have their hair in a bun. As students advance, they may be instructed to purchase pointe shoes. Never buy pointe shoes without speaking to your teacher first!
STYLES CLASS: Form fitting dance clothing that is not distracting (ex. leotards, fitted sports shirts, fitted tank tops/short sleeve shirts, spandex shorts, tights, leggings, etc), and may wear arm-up clothes as necessary. All students should have their hair pulled back and off the neck. No shoes are required for this class.
ADULT CLASSES: Form-fitting dance or exercise clothes and appropriate dance shoes. All students should have their hair pulled back and off the neck.
MUSICAL THEATER: Form-fitting dance or exercise clothes and solid black shoes. All students should have their hair pulled back and off the neck.
HIP HOP: Form-fitting dance or exercise clothes and black high-top converse sneakers or knock off brands of converse. All students should have their hair pulled back and off the neck.
*Please no mid-drifts or revealing clothing.
*No street shoes are allowed in the studio and dance shoes should not be worn outside – grit/dirt from outdoors and rosin can damage our dance flooring.
